Concept & Post-production
Habitat or Home is a 5-minute film that explores the concept of home as a commodity and the growing impact of homelessness in our cities. The film takes the viewer on a visual journey exploring the concept of home as a commodity; it intentionally aims to confront the juxtaposed perceptions that play out regarding, consumerism, home and homelessness.
The post-production was a process of editing together appropriate elements from several videos and combining them with Stacey Miers still photographs. The final visual process involved creating a filter containing desaturation, film shake, dust and scratches which overlayed the combined video and photographs. The sound design involved mixing and matching spoken word and musical elements from several sources and then leveling out all multiple sources of audio. The final film runs for approximately 5 minutes and can be viewed on youtube.
